Method details

Wire transfers

  • Provide immediate (T+0) buying power upon receipt.
  • Available for the Individual Funding model.

Cash transfer

  • Recommended for Self Funded accounts.
  • Uses a pre-funded Cash Transfer Special Purpose Account to provide cleared cash that immediately updates the cashAvailableForTradingNonMarginable field.
  • Enables T+0 options trading.

Cashless trading for options

  • Uses the Cash Transfer Special Purpose Account to reserve buying power when an order is placed, with cash transferred to the customer account upon execution.
  • Available for both Individual Funding and Bulk Funding models.

Instant trading of options flow:

When a customer account is configured for Instant Trading of Options:

  1. Option trades are placed and validated by the Client.
  2. Buying power is reserved in the Cash Transfer Special Purpose Account.
  3. When the order is placed, buying power is checked via the Cash Transfer Special Purpose Account.
  4. When the order executes, cash is transferred to the Customer account to pay for the option trade.
  5. Pending settlement amounts from sale transactions are applied back to the Cash Transfer Special Purpose Account.
  6. Once settled, funds are transferred back through the chain to the Customer account at the client institution.

Important notes

Note — Bulk Funding: While Bulk Funding provides instant equity buying power, the underlying funds are unsettled until T+1. Standard Bulk Funding deposits cannot be used for same-day options trading. Options trading becomes eligible on T+1, or immediately if the account was pre-funded from a prior day's settled deposit.

Key Account Requirement: To use Cash Transfer-based methods, you must establish and maintain a Cash Transfer Special Purpose Account with DriveWealth. This account:

  • Must be pre-funded via wire transfer
  • May not carry a negative balance
  • Must be sized to cover your expected peak daily deposit volume
